Physical Inspection Laboratory at Textile and Garment Industry Research and Development gained international recognition

On June 7, 2022, the Physical Inspection Laboratory at the Textile and Garment Industry Research and Development Center received international accreditation for four Testing features; Cotton Stickiness, Fabric GSM, Fabric Abrasion & Fabric Bursting Strength. Director of Research and Inspection Laboratory of the Textile and Garment Industry Research and Development Center, Mamaru Tesfaye, received a certificate of recognition from the Deputy General Manager of the Ethiopian Accreditation Service, Getnet Tsigemelak.

According to Mamaru, the physical testing laboratory located at the center on January 7, 2006 was equipped with six cotton stripping features (Strength, Micronaire, Upper half mean length, Uniformity Index, Yellowness (+ b) & Reflectance (+ Rd) in the laboratory quality management ISO. 17025: 2017 Accredited by the former Ethiopian National Accreditation Office (now Ethiopian Accreditation Service). He also said that the center is preparing to send the required documents and other works to the Ethiopian Accreditation Service to gain international recognition in the quality management of the chemical testing laboratory. “I would like to thank Yared Mesfin for his tireless leadership and support to the laboratory,” he said.
